Reconcile a bank statement

Step-by-step Eprecus guidance for reconcile a bank statement.

Before you start Have the bank statement or imported bank file for a defined date range and access to the related cash, payment, receipt, and journal records.

Steps 1. Open Banking and Reconciliation, then select the correct bank account and statement period. 2. Import or review the statement lines and confirm the opening and closing balances are reasonable. 3. Match each line to the existing payment, receipt, transfer, or journal when a clear match exists. 4. Create or escalate an adjustment only when it is supported by business evidence and approved accounting treatment. 5. Review unmatched lines, complete the reconciliation, and save the reconciliation evidence.

Check your work The reconciled balance agrees with the statement and every unmatched item has a clear documented next action.

When to stop and ask for help Stop if the statement belongs to another account, the balance difference is unexplained, or a proposed adjustment lacks support.
