Close an accounting period

Step-by-step Eprecus guidance for close an accounting period.

Who this guide is for Controllers, accountants, and CPAs responsible for period-end controls.

Before you start Complete your close checklist, including reconciliations, review of open documents, payroll postings, adjustments, and required financial reports.

Steps 1. Open the accounting periods list and select the period you intend to close. 2. Review the close checklist and confirm that required reconciliations, journals, and approvals are complete. 3. Run the required trial balance, aging, bank, and exception reports and resolve material issues. 4. Request the necessary approval, then use the close command for the period. 5. Record the close date, reviewer, and any approved post-close correction procedure in your normal evidence file.

Check your work The intended period is closed and the next open period is ready for normal business activity.

When to stop and ask for help Stop if material reconciliations, payroll postings, tax filings, or reviewer approvals are incomplete.
